Nov. 8, 2008 - Griffin Falls, AL

We couldn't have gotten better climbing weather if we'd paid for it as the Atlanta Climbing Club got in some fine climbing at Griffin Falls in Alabama.

The club had possibly the biggest turnout of the year for a climbing trip as almost 20 members were on hand. Luckily, it worked out that no other climbers were on hand, so the ACC had Griffin Falls to itself for the day.

With a good variety of moderates and hard climbs alike, there was something for everyone. Newcomers on their first club trip got to sample routes like Pony Party (5.7), led by Denmark, while more experienced members got to burn some calories on tough lines like Smashing Pumpkins (5.11b), led by Gary.

Other memorable leads included:

With plenty of ropes on hand, the big group got to take their pick of toprope lines on these routes and a couple of others that didn't get led. After a sunny day of climbing, the ACC headed back toward Atlanta, with a stopover for some good Mexican food at one our usual stops in Cave Spring.

Thanks to all the leaders for putting up some exciting climbs, and congratulations to new members on your first ACC trip!

Stay tuned for information on our upcoming December trip to Tennessee Wall!
