The past weekend trip to Shortoff went great. We had a big fire and lots of beer Friday night, climbers were rolling into camp through the night and the next morning. The rain held off until around 1am and didn't start storming until around 3am.

We woke up Saturday to dry weather so we ate a quick breakfast, packed our gear and hiked up to the cliff top. The sun came out by midmorning drying out the rock for a great day of climbing.

The day went well with lots of routes getting done. EVERYONE in the club was looking to climb the ultra-classic Maginot Line and by the end of the day nearly everyone had. The last party to topout came into camp just at dark and another big fire awaited them. We turned in around midnight as the fire was dying out and the 30 degree temps made our sleeping bags look very inviting.

Up early Sunday morning for a little more climbing before breaking camp and hiking back down for the long drive home which was made longer by the paving work being performed on I-85.

Final tally: no injuries, one whipper, 3 no shows, 2 coyotes, one climber who couldn't find the top of the cliff, one lost biner, one near drowning (in his tent!), a few hangovers (see: climber that couldn't find top...), and LOTS of good climbing.
